Russia’s defense ministry release Syrian airstrike footage

Russia’s Defence Ministry released first images of the airstrike campaign targeting Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS, ISIL) positions in Syria’s Homs region on Wednesday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke out regarding the move to send in the Air Force. The only way to fight against international terrorism in Syria and neighbouring states… is to act pre-emptively, to fight and annihilate militants on the territories that they have already occupied, not to wait when they come to our homes,” the nation’s leader stated.

US Secretary of State John Kerry also addressed the topic, saying that the US will support the airstrikes on IS positions in Syria if they "reflect a genuine commitment to defeat that organisation," during an address to the United Nations Security Council in New York.
