A Beautiful Video of a Red-tailed Hawk Hovering in the Air


A popular video of a red-tailed hawk hovering while hunting went incredibly viral and circulated in a short period of time on social media.

Red-tailed Hawks hunt from elevated perches because flying low to search for prey needs more flapping and energy. However, wind conditions might cause them to hover still, hardly flapping their wings while they examine the ground below.

Bill Bryant shot the film in Golden, Colorado, and it earned an award at the 2021 Audubon Photography Awards.
