China Reveals World’s First AI News Anchor
Xinhua’s AI anchor broadcasts news in standing position
China’s Xinhua news agency has unveiled what they are calling artificial intelligence news anchors, who supposedly can read text, mimic facial expressions and demonstrate human mannerisms. Xinhua launched its AI presenters with tech firm Sogou, using facial recognition, facial modeling and speech synthesis software. Xinhua said it’s experimenting with the software as a way to lower production costs.
