GTA V Looks Incredibly Photorealistic Thanks to Intel AI Tool

An AI research company has produced a new video demonstrating a new photorealism enhancing technology being used to GTA 5 — and the results are breathtaking.

The new machine learning technology, which is part of the Intel ISL research group’s Photorealism Enhancement project, helps make computer-generated pictures more realistic by evaluating each frame of the game animation and comparing it to real-life photos before making modifications based on them.

In a video example, Intel ISL displays some standard Grand Theft Auto 5 gameplay before transitioning to the tool’s output, which analyzes the gaming footage and applies machine learning to make it appear more lifelike.
